IKBI, Inc. performed the St. Gabriel Levee Enlargement for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, as part of improvements to the Mississippi River levee system in Iberville Parish, Louisiana. The project encompassed a section of the Pontchartrain Levee District identified as Item M-201 to 198.6-L, extending from baseline station 1439+00 to station 1599+00.

The scope involved comprehensive site preparation and earthwork necessary to enlarge and improve the existing levee. Work included clearing, grubbing, and vegetation removal; excavation within the designated borrow area; and placement of embankment material to support the levee enlargement. IKBI also installed geotextile materials and constructed the required surfacing as part of the completed improvements.

Environmental protection and site stabilization were incorporated throughout the work, including installation of silt fencing and establishment of turf following construction. The project also included related incidental work necessary to complete the levee improvements and restore affected areas.

Performed from October 2015 through October 2019, the project represents IKBI’s experience executing large-scale civil and earthwork construction in support of federally managed flood-control infrastructure.
